Runes, where do i find them?

Hey, im fairly new to the game. I collect runes because i figured they have some value. my question is how do i find rare runes? ones higher then THUL? the only thing i found that i believe was a high leve was a pul rune which i traded for 3 items which seemed good to me. One was a shield including another high level rune, sigons guard, and another body armor. Is there something you could tell me which would imporve my search for high level runes?

From what i hear, rune drops are totally random, and do not reflect on anything such as your magic find. The higher rune are dropped on the higher difficulties. Check out the arreat summit for more information.

i hear that the countess (act 1 Quest 4) drops runes at quick rate. My advice to u is... Collect every single rune u find and use ur cube to transmute three of the same kind to the next highest. Arreat summit has a guide for transmuting runes.

Yes but note: you can only do this for low level runes. You cant get a zod by transmuting 3 of the lower run levels. It gets to a point where the forumula changes. Only on ladder can you transmute runes up to a zod, but you need 2 runes of the previous level and some gem i believe. Again , arreat summit knows more.

do hell countess she can drop high runes, highest i found off her was gul, didnt really bother doin her,another way is too get a high lvl char above 85,n juz randomly go on a killing spree at arreat plateau in hell,seems that runes drop better if ur using high lvl chars,my friend found an ohm off a prowling dead wif his lvl 91 necro

okay, all sounds great, i tested the act one quest 4 thing and it works quite well, i find at least 1 rune everytime, highest out of 5 runs i found was a RAL so im guessing thats good for a low level monster and so easy to get 2

Travincal runs in hell is also a nice place to do rune runs....altho its very rare and the councils can be an ass if they hav like conviction/fanat etc

off topic: i found OHM and MAL doing shenk run.....but some monster before Shenk dropped them....

I've found an Ist rune off Countess in hell and recently Pul, I've been told she has the highest chance to drop runes but i think up to a certain rune.
