messenger service popups

This may sound like a noob question, but how do I stop the messenger service popups from interrupting my game?

I hope you mean the grey popups that advertise and kick you out of games. Because this is how to do it:

Go to Control Panel->Adminitrative Tools->Services.
Scroll down to Messenger, right-click and go to Properties.
In the General tab ( should be default, but just in case ) find where it says "Startup Type" and change it to "Disabled"

Problem solved.

I am talking about a popup that has an advertisement not msn messenger.

First of all post it in the HELP FORUM which is not in the DiabloII section, read the sticky thread to read more about joining the full Zelaron network instead of just the DiabloII section of it.

Secondly go in Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools and go to Services.. in there disable MESSENGER (it should be displayed in Alphabetical order so you won't have to search for it) when you do you shouldn't recieve anymore messenger popups.
