Ya 1gb should be sufficient unless you plan on hosting a server for something. Upgrade the Geforce if ya got the $$. The monitor is fine. Im runnin a 21'' - If you carry it around to LANs, you'll thank the heavens you didn't go with the 23''.

If you don't, downgrade the memory or something so you do have the $$.

I'd never buy a comp from a co. like dell or gateway, Y? cause I work at a PC repair place and guess what the # pc we get to repair? Dell, 2nd place comes gateway then lastly is compaq.. we charge more to repair these comp cause they are a pain in the ass. IF your going to spend that kind of money and need help on getting the right part to build it yourself I can help. Also I perfer Althons cause they own Pents :P and get DDR ram, it the best.

I'm breaking the limit inside you, stop begging someone to hide you. I'm breaking the limit inside you, don't run away, bring it on straight to me!

as sirpullido said, go with custom computers.
1) they are cheaper (i have an uncle who could make me a super pimp computer for less than 1/3 the price you pay for it at the store).
2) they are faster and can be more powerful.
3) easier to upgrade/downgrade being there is more space inside the tower.
4) they can look cooler if you case modify them.

the titanium gamer force pro is almost the exact same thing my computer is, except the fact that my brother made mine, and it was about the same price. but if you buy a computer like that from the store with name brand you're paying like $300 more for it.

http://www.cyberpowersystem.com/high.../memorial1.htm is a good deal, i wouldnt mind having that for the price its at.

seems like you didnt spend enough on the video card, and too much on the processor.
