Site Sluggishness

As far as I can tell, the current server slowdown is due to the other guy I'm letting use the server for his personal blog site putting up BF2 sigs. I'm currently in the proccess of strangling him to death over this, but in the mean time:

This might be a good excuse to try to get server upgrade funds from him...

No, no, you don't understand. Those are self updating sigs that anyone can use, and apparently there are several hundred people using them because his site registered 300,000 hits yesterday...

300,000?!! And we're getting...not as many...how does that figure?? Surely he's got links to us or advertising on his site if you're letting him use the server?? Or some kind of thing that directs visitors to us??

Edit:
I'm liking the error messages that come up about server problems...especially the fact that they appear in 5 minute intervals and don't go for another 5 minutes...how long till you have the whole server back??

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

Database seems to be giving me that error 50% of the time right now. Same thing?

Yeah, so after peaking at a server load of 50 and 4.5GB of bandwidth, the sigs got taken down.

That brings back memories. What happened to the potential server upgrade, anyway?
