Hey guys. Sorry I haven't posted recently, but I have been very tied up with work, school, and preparation for the LSAT (4 days from now)!
Thanks for the advice on how to fix my bug. Unfortunately, I had already checked/tried all of those ideas, and I decided to just use the default "Run" command. It won't really affect gameplay that much anyhow. Anyway, I finally finished the game and it's online now. You can get it HERE.
I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I enjoyed making it. I think I really pushed the capabilities of RPG Maker 2003 to their limits. I hope you will agree.

BlueCube: You really seem to know what you're doing! I am taking a class in C++ programming right now, and I plan to work on an RPG creation engine similar to RPG Maker. Do you have any experience with C++ and if so, would you be willing to lend your expertise to this project? I would like to design it such that you may use the top-down birds-eye view on some maps, while using a first-person perspective in others (dungeons, for instance). It would be used to create games similar to Ultima: Quest of the Avatar and Legacy of the Ancients. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks!
