I'm getting sick of it. Nautiously fucking sick of it. All you little fuckers who don't want to give reasons for why you think certain characters should win. At first it was annoying, but now it's pissing me off immensely. If you read the thread, you post. Don't just dismiss it as another random poll and vote. Post, you useless fucks. This brings up a problem with some of the idiots around here that don't have any interests other than a certain game or something. Can't you just participate in the forums once in a while? Don't play hookie you cocksucking shits.

Sorry if I sound like an asshole or if you think this should be in the flame forum, but I think it's perfectly justifiable and relevant.

I completely agree. Reading KA's rather nauseating excuses has had me in a foul mood since this afternoon. The fact is, there isn't any way to guarantee people's participation in things like this.

The thing that really aggrivates me is that the more intelligent, longstanding members aren't really participating at all. I know Titus would if he wasn't judging, but the fact that members like Grav, WetWired, Penguin, Xenn, Senesia, Medieval Bob, Gamecube and Adrenachrome have had minimal to no participation is a little upsetting. I thought this would be a pretty good way to get people more active, and frankly I still think it's a fucking awesome idea.

Oh well, maybe by this time tomorrow the Zel Melee forum will see more action. I just can't believe that the members here have grown so apathetic towards the community that something as engaging and simple as this is looked at as being too much of a hassle to participate in.

What do you want me to say? I don't even know who the fuck Rikimaru is, and I never played any of the Metal Gear games, so all I have to base on it is who looks like they would kill the other. For all I know Solid Snake could start shooting fireballs out of his eyes.

I have school...leaving at 8:45am, and will be back at 11:00pm at night.

Aside from that, I am not very familiar with all the characters. I might know one of them in the pair, but then it's not good enough to type out a good post. (since I don't know much about the opponent..)

Honestly, I don't know know any of the characters really, but that is nothing 5 minutes couldn't remedy. I can't wait for next the next tournament, because I'm going to resign as judge and start participating. I think this idea is fucking awesome as well Raziel, but we need more participants.

Do the best you can if you don't know much about the characters, if you can't do any, simply give a reason why you think the character you know should win. The fact that this latest poll is 3 to 3 even though all of the posts have been in favor of Cloud is disappointing. I think that you should only count the posts and just use the poll as a "general idea."

I don't think the poll should be there, period. If someone can't give a small paragraph on why they chose a certain character, they don't deserve to be a participant.

KA, are you still not understanding the point of this "little game?" The purpose here is to instigate conversation. The purpose of this tournament is to bring more insightful activity to this forum. It's intended to spark discussion, debate, communication. I created this with the purpose of generating another reason for people not to say "Nothing is happening. I'm so bored!"

Yet, you repeatedly shit all over the idea. Why? What is it about this contest that upsets you so badly? What is it about communicating with the other members in a debate-like fashion that makes you so uncomfortable? Are you afraid that you're going to look like an ass in front of everybody else? And why? Because you don't know the name of Solid Snake's handgun?! Because you're unsure of what game Fulgore was from?! Please...

If you were arguing against me, I could understand your hesitation. I'm a fucking fountain of useless video game knowledge. But most of the other participants have already stated that they don't know half of the characters. You're in the same boat as most of the other active participants, yet you shy away from it like a shivering child. And you have yet to produce a satisfactory answer as to why you're acting in this manner.

So, why are you? This is intended to be fun, yet you treat it like an unexpected visit to the proctologist. You're an intelligent person, but you're certainly not acting like a reasonble one.

The post should be a vote, the poll doesn't need to be there because you get all the information you'll actually use in the judging from the posts. Maybe if the poll isn't there, it'll encourage more people to post.

I didn't say "write a book" KA, I said "participate." Posting "yeah Mario would kick Mega Man's ass" is not participating. That's a drive-by post. A ten second blurb of little to no actual conversational value. The point of these battles is for people to give good reasons for why they think a character would win, not how many people think a character would win. By not posting reasons, you're not participating. This is about discussion, not voting.

If you were a court witness testifying in defense of a friend, would you walk into court, say "My friend is innocent" and then leave? No! You'd discuss it. The same applies here. The purpose here is discussion, and you keep missing that point. If you don't want any part of a discussion,then that's fine by me. What you need to understand is that I'm not going to take votes into consideration. Drive-by posts are nothing more than glorified votes, and winners aren't decided by vote, they're decided by argument. If you have no problem with the fact that your votes mean nothing in the decision-making process, then by all means, continue.

Well, drive-by posts are infuriating, and hell yes, so is reading 10 pages worth of endlessly looping !@#$@# just trying to tell your Geography teacher that Mt. Everest is located in the Himalayas is just like it. Just tell what you have to say precisely! It wouldn't hurt. Would you like it if whatever comic book, book, manga, or magazine you're reading is like SOOOOO long it even competes with a Gone With the Wind MARATHON?! I have nothing against aspiring "novelists" in the thread posts, but they should also think that other people are reading this thread too and if they post a zillion bytes worth of info, the persons reading this post would get bored and then write something like it on the thread. Not all people could handle wordy posts, and attention spans are different for each and every person on this forum, and anywhere else. I admit that I am a wordy type of person (just read this post....:P), and I try to keep it to a minimum so that others wouldn't get too bored of the thread I'm replying to that they don't even want to answer it anymore.

For this melee thing, I think it is really great, and I learn new things from other characters I don't know since Raziel clearly defines what each character has that is unique and would definitely hold on against another character with different skills and powers and whatever. It's not "my sword is bigger than yours and I will WIN!" kind of thing, we also have to think how the other character would hold on his own against his/her opponent. Besides, it's a great way of interacting among us posters of this thread. And we share what we think of the characters, and we debate about their pros and cons, and God knows what else. Besides, it's like playing one BIG RPG, and we the posters are controlling what's going to happen next by means of our votes and the way we defend or bash (to some extent) our favorite characters and not so favorite characters affect the judges in deciding who is the winner.

Even if I don't know the other characters, I try to keep myself posted by goings on in the video gaming world by reading mags and articles on games; but I admit I am a mostly RPG fanatic and I know a little less than your average when it comes to other genres. But damn, at least I try.

2) I don't play enough RPG games or whatever they are to know anything about the characters to make an arguement anyway.
