1. Equipment
This type of zealot relies heavily on some specific items, so much of the time you wont be able to substitute in other items because nothing else will do in their place.
Helm: Top rated 1.08 vampire gaze with 40ed.15 IAS jewel. Perfect stats, helps you reach max damage reduction, has jewel to add enhanced damage and the increased attack speed you need to reach 4fps zeal without fanaticism.
Other helms of note are 1.09 gaze with ber rune for damage reduce, and rockstopper for the really poor guy. Hey, it has nice resists and dr.
Amulet: highlords wrath. Nothing else will do. Ias, deadly strike, +skill, light res, light dmg. What else could you want?
Shield: stormshield with cham. This is the only shield you will be using. Dont disgrace yourself by settling for anything else. Cham it for cannot be frozen.
Armor: jewelers _____ of stability with any jewels of your choice. I recommend using 40ed.10min dmg jewels because you will need a high minimum dmg with the weapon you should be using. Besides, high minimum dmg = stun. Also, the armor must, *MUST* have 24 fhr. Without this mod, you are managed to destroy the build, or make it very difficult to work.
Other armors that work are jewelers ____ of equilibrium [do not get balance; I will kill you if you ruin good jewels with that crap armor], or arkaines valor for its 30fhr. Either way, you will want to get fhr with your armor.
Rings: blood crafted rings with high minimum dmg [8 or 9] with high life leech [10 or 11] with stats, resists, life. If you do not want to go with cham in the stormshield, you can sub in a raven frost for good measure.
Gloves: bloodfist. Do not use anything else. 30fhr, 5min dmg, 40 life, 10 ias, what else do you want? Really.
Boots: imp shanks. Since Im on west, I can obtain a pair of these duped boots easily. They have 30 faster run/walk, 20fhr, 18 str, and massive resists. Eventually, I plan on crafting a pair of blood boots with 10 fhr and nice stats/leech/resists. If you are not on west, I recommend crafting some nice blood boots.
Belt: perfect string of ears. Dont like it? Dont embarrass me by trying this build without a SoE.
Weapon: ah yes
the best part. My weapon of choice is a superior ed fury phase blade. The reason I use such a low dmg weapon is because of its awesome natural ias and the tight damage range. This ensures a nice minimum dmg and good 4fps zeal without fana. Also, fury has life leech, deadly strike, 40ias, eth rune [itd in pvp], and it just looks awesome.
Other weapons of note are cruel phase blades of quickness with 2 sockets [socket however you like, Im not gonna tell you what to do], other fast weapons that can reach 4fps zeal without fana.
As you can see, the things of emphasis on this build are
1. Faster hit recovery [fhr]
2. Life leech
3. Deadly strike
4. Resists
2. Charms
Its been said before that what makes a good zealot are his charms. I stand by this whole-heartedly and what makes my power zealot a contender amongst other zealots are his charms. I used mostly
__ small charms of balance. If you are rich enough, or lucky enough, aim for elemental dmg + fhr on your charms. Whatever it takes to reach 152fhr, you must do in charms. As for the rest of your charms, try to get maxed fire/lightning resists, and then add all the elemental damage you can get. My zealot currently has 54.7% of his dmg in elemental charms. Exploit low resists to win. I used mostly shocking charms of ___ or just plain shocking charms. Also, try to get some nice cold dmg, as it is said to pierce like the sorceress cold skill mastery. More hidden dmg = good. Remember to place some fire damage somewhere. You will need the stun animation if you can pull it off.
3. Skills
I made this zealot to be able to tackle all close melee pvpers and even legit bowzons/necros. I will outline the skills I used to make my zealot kick all the arse that he did.
Concentration: Max. Its the main skill of this build. 20% chance of uninterrupted zeal = u interrupt their zeal and hit them. Whats wrong with that? Nothing. Good.
Conviction: Max. Lowers resists so all your elemental dmg hurts a lot more. Lowers defense rating for all you cruel users with Lo Lo and no Eth rune. All in all, a very good aura to have handy.
Holy Freeze: Max. It allows you to duel necros and bowzons with ease. Also great for those times when some arsehole shows up in your game trying to mess it up for you. Slows by 54% with more than a screens radius = gg you win or piss someone off, or even both.
Fanaticism: Great as a backup skill. I will not elaborate on this skill too much, as you will find other great guides on building a fanadin. Just make sure you have a secondary set of equipment if you choose to max fana. Make sure you have the necessary ias to reach 4fps as well.
Holy Shield: rest of the points after prereqs. I stress skills over stats. Its easier to get stats from equip/charms than it is to get +skills. My holy shield was slvl 16 after everything at clvl 99.
4. Stats
This is the easiest part of this guide. It is similar to every other pala pvp build you will see out there.
· Str: enough to wear gear [156 is usually enough]
· Dex: enough for 75% block at clvl 99 [149 for me]
· Vit: all the rest of your points [I reached 300 vit at clvl99]
· Eng: none
*scoffs*
5. Dueling tips
Since this was meant for close melee dueling only, I will only go into that. Ill let you have the pleasure of finding out how to deal with ranged attackers. Youll want to shift zeal for every battle. Shift zealing allows you to gain a huge amount of range as if you had a longer range weapon. Also, if your opponent is an idiot who charges a Power Zealot, ie you [never NEVER charge a Power Zealot], hell find himself desynched, and if hes even dumber, hell try to click on your character to hit you, and have to WALK all the way to you [maybe half a screen away] all the while youll be zealing away like a madman and probably kill him before he reaches you. As Ive said before, never charge a Power Zealot, its a bad bet.
Vs. Zealot / Avenger: shift zeal and trade blows to see who wins. If hes tricky and likes to charge a lot, stand your ground and just shift zeal until hes locked. Once hes locked in blocking or stun animation, you basically win. Plus hes likely to have crap resists. Easy win for you.
Vs. Martial Arts Assassin: same strat as above. If shes a trap hybrid, and lays down wake of fire and tries to mindblast you, you have 1 of 2 options. If you have good fire resists and relatively high health, charge straight at her and zeal like a crazy fool. Youll win because you have good fhr and resists. Youll lose if you have a crappy connection. If you have low fire res/life, shift charge your way out of the wakes and try to position urself in a way to charge straight at her without her traps messing with you. Easy-medium.
Vs. Melee Druid: same as zealots, but as soon as they run off to recast a spirit that you killed, charge them for all its worth and kill them while they are in casting animation. Cruel, but thats what killing is all about. Medium-hard.
Vs. Vindicator: hard duel because they have massive life and sometimes a 3k smite. They also have high resists. Your best bet is to shift zeal and if you start getting knocked back because of their smite, charge off and try charging into a zeal upon contact. Remember, you have leech and they dont. medium-hard.
this guide isn't mine but it was made by a very succesful Euro dueler , you play euro right : )?
