March 17, 2003 - Publisher Midway Entertainment has a solid lineup of announced projects coming to next-generation consoles in 2003, but the company has even more titles secretly in development, according to the latest retailer release lists. The following games have begun to pop up on various online retail sites:
ESPionage (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
Highway to Hell (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
NARC (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
NFL Blitz: Pro (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
NHL Hitz: Pro (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
The Suffering (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
SpyHunter 2 (PS2, GCN, Xbox)
ESPionage has been described as "like Metal Gear Solid" except that its main character uses his telepathic powers to move and burn objects. Meanwhile, The Suffering is allegedly an action-horror game set inside a prison. Midway plans to debut the darkly themed project this Halloween, say sources.
While little is known about the sequel to the console combat-racer SpyHunter, insiders close to Midway have indicated that Angel Studios is the developer. This would come as Angel Studios' last title for Midway since the company has recently been acquired by Rockstar Games.
Finally, it looks as though Tecmo could be underway with a sequel to Dead or Alive. Retail release schedules list Dead or Alive 4 coming to Xbox November of this year.
