Get the RPG maker? Can I download from winmx or do I have to buy it?

For an english version, you need to use something like winmx. The english version is apparently illegal, though. Just a warning in case someone knocks at your door.

I've been using it for a while.

Both. I didn't know this until recently, though.. they aren't going to do much, since they gave up on trying to enforce this (no one else knew either, everyone on the 'net thought it was shareware)

Just do a Google Search for it, you'll find 'em.

You need the RTP files..

RPG Maker 2000. That's the full name.

And at this point, my nine-year old brother is asking me to make him an RPG based on his comics he draws.. the main characters are imps. Yes, imps. He's doing the voices and such, but it's strange (a nine-year old's comics are kinda all over the place) but it's fun to do.
