What's up with stormshield...?

Blizzard's (i guess?) site http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp lists the stormshield as having a base defense ranging from 145-161. In my experience all the uniques I've found have had 1 more dmg/def than that site posts as the max.

I never seen any stormshield with more than a 142 base defense and I'd really like to get my hands on one with 161. But before I spend too much time looking for someone who has it, does such a stormshield even exist?

Maybe someone could clear up for me how the stats on uniques work in general in relation to the posted numbers on that site? Thanks.

P.S. I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question

This is the right place to ask but I gotta ask:
What difference does it make?
They obviously dont care to list all the exact defense
of every single item.
