Just a little update on me and my hectic life as of late.
In my line of work (I work for a utility contractor), our Hurricane Season is the equivalent to Tax Season for accountants. I just had my first taste of this over the last two weeks, and it's going to continue.
On Sunday, 8/31/08, me and all my crews (25 total people), were released from Philadelphia to travel down to Mississippi and Louisiana to help assist with Hurricane Gustav. We go down to help with all the power outages and get everyone back with electricity. By the time we got down there, Gustav had come and gone, and left 1.9 million people without power. We were released to go back home on Monday this week and I just got back yesterday. While working in these conditions, we work 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, so it's very exhausting.
Now, I just got released again and will be starting another road trip down to Texas tomorrow morning at 6 AM in preparation for Hurricane Ike. Apparently, Ike is getting fucking HUGE and could cause a lot of damage and death. All I really hope for is that all the power lines get destroyed so I can have plenty of work and make a lot of money!
WIsh me luck, I'm leaving again tomorrow morning, probably for a few weeks this time.
