Leveling?

Would it be possible to make a leveling system similar to RPG's?

Like, 10 posts gets you a level 2 and so on so forth?

That would be interesting. Also a currency that you receive and can use for certain things. Or more bonuses for getting and maintaining 100% activity. That would cause so much more activity on this forum!

All of these are good ideas. Sometimes when the forums aren't as active it's nice to have something to occupy yourself with when you have nothing better to do.

We just re-implemented the Shop feature back at PeTA-Sucks. Activity has doubled so people can have credits to buy different things.

See if you can find out the details, and get them to WW... I've noticed that starting a new thread with all the relevant details, and links to shop hacks, coupled with insults in WW's general direction, calling him lazy, and accusing him of not caring about the forum, generally work to get him to do things.

It would be nice to have something, after all.

I've been suggesting a shop and a point system of some sort for ages. The problem is WW doesn't like any of the current ones available. I think it was on his list of things to work on, but I know nothing past that.

I've been spending 20 hours a week working on the forum lately, my concience is clean.

The main issue with the shop truely is getting up a shop that doesn't suck (hard to maintain/insecure/poorly coded/wrong features). If you can find one, I'll certainly set it up

Zelaron had an RPG system before the activity system. I'm sure you can see the influence. I guess the main issue is that RPG systems are mostly meaningless. We have so much junk on the postbit already that we created an award to simplify it and I put a bunch of it in a popup section.

I've been wanting to try other sections of Zelaron but I've not found the inspiration yet. Leveling would help me.

Any level system would be retroactive, so don't wait to start. Ye olde post whores have about double the experience points of average Joe, and average Joe has 10 times more experience than lurkers and occational visitors.

As I indicated previously, I already have a system in mind, it's just an issue of implementing the day-to-day details of its operation. If you're interested in the starting levels of a few people, you can check out http://zelaron.com/forum/mychat.php?...&pp=200&page=3 . The system essentially operates as DailyExp=(ActivityPercent*ActivityToday)/K, so the more active you are the more your activity counts. A lurker (visits every day) would get 9 points a day, whereas a 100% club member (4 posts every day) would get 110 points a day. A 50%er would average 27 points a day.
