Leaving your comfort zone
Reply

Can anybody leave their comfort zone with anything? It has been a real struggle in my life and i am looking for ways to do that without really getting myself in trouble or hurt. Any suggestions?

I don't think I have much of a comfort zone because I'm willing to try just about anything at least once. I personally think clinging to the stuff you know and love could keep you from experiencing something you might like even more.

Just go try something completely new, like skydiving. Or even start by making small changes, like how you walk to class or something like that.

I am the same way. I always try new things but end up always finding a way back to the old stuff. For example, i have been involved with this group of girls for 2 1/2 years now, and i dont plan on hooking up with any of them. i always go out to bars and meet new, more exciting girls, but by the end of the night, if im not feeling it, i end up finding my way back to this group. It only starts drama, which i hate, and now i just dont want to deal with it anymore. The real question i guess im asking is how can you leave that comfort zone and stay out.

I don't understand what you're asking. What's so bad about liking certain things and sticking to those things? Just because I eat pizza 3 times a week doesn't mean I can't try new things and still eat pizza. I love pizza, I love trying new things, I have FOOD HARMONY.

Well food harmony is different then what im trying to get at. This group of girls is like the black plague. I have been interested in this girl now for some time, and she knows it, but since she is friends with my old ex i know nothing is going to happen. This group makes me rethink everything i do, especially in the way i speak to this girl, and im just tired of being involved with the drama it causes in my life. But because i have been friends with them for 2 1/2 years now, i feel obligated to stick around, when i know i shouldnt be there anymore. I have other friends, but like i said, i tend to gravate to this group after being away from them. i just want to know how to break it off with them and not feel like a total dick.

Do what seems logical to you, logic defeats things like this. You say you know that you're tired of being part of this group, so stop being part of the group. Don't worry about hurting them, don't worry about what might happen, just do what you feel is right. You're more important than them, you can't place their feelings above yours.

Dont be afraid of what will happen when you leave your zone. You might find a new hobby or meet a new person. Whats the worst that could happen?

Maybe instead of going to your group of friends, do something random that you like to do alone. If you can't be alone then your basically depending on these people...well more like they are your backup if anything goes wrong. Not right for them, and not healthy for you. Like everyone else is saying, try a new hobby or something. And dont worry about hurting them, they'll find new friends and maybe be upset for a while, but if your not feeling it then why are you wasting your time? Plus, why do you care that you might upset them if you don't want to be in their crowd anymore? Maybe youd do want to be there still, but need to mix it up a little more. I obviously have a HUGE comfort zone in my baby daddy, but that's something I guess I'll get over when I've hit a breaking point.
Your fucking stupid

Gruesome, I really can't understand what you are asking.

You are the only one who will look out for yourself. Don't make people a priority if they only make you an option. Etc etc.

Honestly, if you ever reach a point where you feel your friends are an obligation, figure out why and think about how you may be able to repair it.

If you're not able to, just go your seperate ways. Not to sound overly carebear, but it's better to look back at the good times than it is to share time with someone you really don't want to and grow to resent them for making you feel guilty about not hanging out with them.
