Mod Chips eh

So lets talk about mod chips...Ummm any good site to buy them? And once you have them are they complicate to put in, the non-soldering ones that is, cause it would seem like you would need somone to do it for you.
I was looking through some descriptions of a few, and one claimed it could:
Fake Xbox-live HDD identity
Protect Xbox-live modchip detection
HDD unlock / lock
