Conjecture: WoW will have more followers because even some of the most devout EQ zealots dislike EQ2. This is not to say it won't be successful, but it won't be as successful as wow.

It's really hard to say, honestly.

Everquest is the name most people think of when you hear MMORPG, yet Blizzard is one of the most popular game companies around...

No no no, you cannot even begin to concieve the level shear magnitude of WoW's fanbase in places like SKorea and other Asia Countries compared to the meager interest in EQ2. Sure EG2 will get it's typical fanbase and will be a big deal for awhile, but I happen to believe, no to know that WoW will far surpass EQ2 in the long run due to the fans trust in Blizzard and their dedication to this game.
