9.1 million is chump change. Bill Gates gave 17 billion to charity.

New car and and a house for myself and probably the same for my father. After that, I'd just live off of it for the rest of my life. No massive ridiculous expenditures like a diamond-encrusted toilet plunger. Just a place to live, a more reliable ride and the security of never having to take another job for the rest of my life.

Well, when the TX lottery was at ~$160 million, I made a list.

I would buy:
A Hummer for myself. ~100k
Five cars for my close friends. ~250k
Computers for two of them. ~5k
A computer for me. ~4k
A new truck and a camper for my mom. ~200k
A new house to live in. ~500k
A new house to have parties in. ~500k
Six new computers for that party house. ~15k

That's $1.5 million... I'd still have had like... (I think tax on the TX lottery is some huge stupid fucking number like 45%) $70 million left.

If I hit a $9 mil jackpot, I'd probably do the exact same thing.

I would get a sweet house for myself with a lot of property around it, then buy a Mercedes SLR and a Lexus SC 430. Donate some money to charity and live off the interest for the rest of my life.

When you win the lotto, you're supposed to go to the bank and put your winnings into a perpetual annuity. You and your heir (and their heir, and...) will be set for life. Assuming a fairly low APR of 3% (low for a long term, non-liquid bank account), for each mil you put in, you'd get 30k a year to live on.

They make millions off of tickets and in return give one the winning, even though the government basically takes half of it back. Cheaters!

I'd buy a vacation home, a nice car, pay for my tuition (private high school),set aside more for college, buy a kickass computer, give about 40k each to my good friends, give about 50k to the church, and put the rest into an account, like WetWired suggested.

To take what little the poor people have, take half of it, and give the rest to one poor person to squander so they can remain poor.
