Run Lola Run
First of all, this is an old movie, but I felt it was necessary to review such a good movie. So I'm going to break down a few things
Genre: Thriller/Crime/Drama/Romance
Year: 1998
Language: German (with English subtitles)
Running Time: 80 minutes (USA)/81 minutes (Germany)
Rated: "R" for Language and Violence
Starring: Franka Potente (Lola), Moritz Bleibtreu (Manni), and Herbert Knaup (Vater)
Synopsis: A woman's boyfriend will be killed unless he can come up with 100,000 Deutsch Mark in 20 minutes. The story is told from 3 different viewpoints, each time with a different ending.
Well, I'd like to start out with the music. The music is a techno/rock mix that is mostly performed by Franka Potente herself. It just seems to fit in with the weirdness of the entire movie.
The acting in this movie is nearly flawless. The only problem I had with the acting was that Knaup (who played Vater) made it seem he was just saying the lines, he threw in emotion, but I still felt like I was watching a rock do the part.
The plot was okay in comparison to many other movies I've seen. But the whole 3 different perspectives and endings was a good idea in my opinion. I liked the final ending the best.
The characters themselves are pretty good. My only qualms with the characters were this: Manni's a pussy and vater's a cheating bastard.
All in all, a pretty damned good movie. I suggest seeing it. 9.5 out of 10
