Major changes to the Rockets

All I have to say is fuck Jeff Van Gundy, fuck Carol Dawson, and fuck Rudy Tomjanovich. If you haven't heard, or don't follow basketball, there will most likely be a trade today between the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets that will send Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato over to Orlando and bring Tracy McGrady, Tyronn Lue, and Juwann Howard to Houston. I was dismayed by these rumors, which will most likely become a reality by the end of the day, to say the least.

It's a stupid trade. You're trading two good players for a great player, and some more role players. We don't need role players on this team. We need leaders. Steve Francis was a leader. Tracy McGrady has not shown that he has the capability to lead a team anywhere. Steve Francis may have been inconsistent, but he gave it all he had. You can't ask for anything more than that.

I'm not trying to belittle McGrady or anything, it's just that it is a stupid deal, and I can't believe the Rockets management can't see it. You can't win with two guys. Steve Francis had taken a seat behind Yao Ming. He was allowing Yao to do his thing, while playing tremendous basketball simultaneously. I doubt Tracy McGrady will do any such thing. Once Yao gets better, and he will get better, there will be problems about how the team is going to be run. It will be a Kobe-Shaq type of situation. The Rockets had just begun to get good, they were just at the bring of discovering the potential that they had, but now we're going to throw it all away. It was a great mix. Imagine all three players, Yao, Steve, and Cuttino, playing up to their potential, added with Kelvin Cato who had just started playing well. It would be unbelievable. I don't think we'll get as far as we can with Tracy McGrady.

Also, what makes the management believe that this new team that they are bringing in will be any different from the Orlando team? Why will we be better? We're trading our core player minus Yao for their core players. We're going to be as bad as the Magic were last year, except we'll be worse because we're playing in the west.

While I'm at it, what the fuck is Van Gundy trying to do? First of all he brought to washed-up Knicks players back last year - Marc Jackson and Charles Oakley, and let go of two good players for Houston - Eddie Griffin and Moochie Norris. What the fuck is he thinking? Now he's going to throw away everything Rudy had done by assembling this team, and bringing in some new guys who have never been anywhere. Eddie Griffin was a solid basketball player. He had some personal problems, but he was only 20. He's a kid. Give him some time to sort out his life. And trading Moochie for Clearence Weatherspoon was the stupidest thing the Rockets did last year. Moochie was the heart of this team.

And Rudy is finally selling out on us, but that's OK because he needs to make some money. He did some stupid things as well, like trading Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, and the stupidest things the Rockets may have ever done -- tradeing Hakeem. You don't trade Hakeem man. I don't care if he doesn't score a damn point the entire year, you still don't trade him. It tarnished Hakeem's legacy, and the Rockets' legacy when Hakeem ended his career in Toronto.

It pretty much is. I requested for a sports forum before, but the admins said no, and that sports talk should go into General Conversation, so it is General Conversation.

Slaynish, I guess this is for the people who are into basketball. Plus, I felt like putting out my opinion that the Rockets are making a mistake.

Actually I think the Rockets acquiring Tmac is a great idea. I also think the Rockets picking up Oakley and Marc Jackson is a good idea too. Like you said before Houston was in need of leadership and they will get it from Marc Jackson and Oakley. I donÂ’t think they were even looking for leadership from Tmac. Tmac going to the Rockets would put them in contention for a championship run in 2005, something I donÂ’t think was possible with their old lineup. Sure Francis and Cutino were good players but I donÂ’t think either are comparable to Tmac.

Besides there is a big chance this deal wonÂ’t go through. If the Charlotte expansion team picks up Francis then the entire Magic-Rockets thing is going straight to the shitter.

I think that Tmac can help the rockets. If I could I would make the same trade, you are getting one of the top ten players in the league for a good point guard. Also I think you like most people overlook Juwann Howard. He still can be a great power forward. When you put him with Yao, who is getting better, you will have a good front court. But your back court can be great simply by adding Tmac. That is like another 30 points right there everynight. This would be a great trade for the Rockets to make. It gives them a better shot to win the NBA Championship which is what all teams are trying to do.

Well unfortunately I dont think Charlotte would have any interest in any of these people so the trade will most probably go through.

Yeah, that was definitly past the line, or so to speak. What i should've said was
"I'm glad you're involved, but I currently am not into the particular sport Basketball."

I can off as an ass, sorry.

Slaynish, do not ruin a thread bound for goodness. It's bad karma for you to post in here; get the fuck out.

With that out of the way: CRAP! The Pacers had their eyes set on T-Mac ever since our season ended. Although, I would not have liked to give away Ron Artest and Al Harrigton for T-Mac. Like you said, mj, T-Mac is a great player but he hasn't lead his team to the playoffs in the last 3 years? Hell, Orlando is the worst team in the NBA. One star does not make a team.

This will be interesting, though. T-Mac and Yao? Oh god. There are two names I never thought would be playing on the same team. I think T-Mac will be more lenient to pass now, he actually has a competent teammate! I do not think the Rockets are championship-bound. They'll make it to the playoffs, sure, but they won't get past the 2nd round. Mark my words. What's up!?
