what are the skills for making a foh pally good just max foh lightning aura and conviction? because i figure that the holy bolt damage should not need synergized for pvp. then i should put points into what holy shield?

I would say that is a pretty good build. Yes, you should probablyget some points into holy sheild just in case you want to smite him/also adds to block %.

Yeah. Max %Block if way important when dueling against melee chars

If you are a Pally u NEED to have 75% block

any cheap gear suggestions because sojs and griffon eye or whatever the helm that adds to light damage and light facets are out of my league i will probably use a wizspike and whistans sheild.

Ok, this gives you a stunning +235 All Resists (assuming no +resists on charms except Annihilus). That will help combat any Lower Resist effects. You can also have some absorb gear in stash for emergencies.

Fill prereqs and put 1 point into Salvation.

Any left over points should likely go into Defiance, to help boost your Def.

hmmm maybe you missed few important words from my previous post. so to recap cheap gear not expensive includeing but not limited to lightning facets Hoto Cta and HoZ. with that said i guess i will tell you what gear i plan on using and then maybe you can get an idea of what kind of gear i can afford.

i will use
lore, pesants crown, or 65 res kiras
+2 pally skills rare ammy with resist
spirit shroud ghost armor
wizspike and whistans shield
switch weapon unique +3 pally skills unique weapon (forgot name of it)and lidless wall
two rare resist rings
water walk boots
frostburns
gloom trap or that belt that gives like 31 vita and dr

last post was too long so i am making a newone. for some explanation of some of the gear.
kira for resist and cannot be frozen
lore for cheap +1 to skills light resist and mana
pesant crown for +1 skill and decent life and mana bonuses
wizspike for resist and mana
whistans for good blocking
spirit shroud for +1 skill and cannot be frozen
lidless wall and +3 pally skills weapon for casting holy shield or for going against necros for the +4 to skills and damage bonuses
frostburns for mana

one question tho do you guys know if in pvp if you can lower peoples resist to less than-100?

You cannot lower resists to less than -100. That is the cap.

As far as the build I posted goes, that was an ideal setup. As far as cheap gear goes, only you know what you can afford. Is this a Ladder setup or no?

yeah it is a ladder setup and i have another question do you think vengence could be a viable secondary skill or would i be better off getting fanat and zeal do you think?

You really shouldn't need a secondary skill, if you're PvP. If you're PvM, you hit the wrong forum.

I've heard mixed things about the Vengeance skill. Some say it's great, whereas one of my friends about killed himself saying how shitty it was. (Joke)

yeah i know this is gonna be a pvp so i will max foh, holy shock and coviction first then a few in holy shield but that still leaves me with a good amount of skill points left over. and i would like to be able to kill some things it gets really boring to just stand there and not being able to kill monsters while leveling.

NO NO NO NO NO!!! ... its all i have to say...everything is good but factor in the + skills...DONT WASTE ON CONVIC!! i have a base lvl 10 convic and with all my gear on it already does -150% which is the cap for it...DONT WASTE ON CONVIC LOL!!!!!!!

There are people who will stack serious lightning resistance (200+).

Also, where else are you going to place skill points? Defiance is nice, but not necessary. If you're decent, the typical Public PvPer isn't going to get near you.

Any "l33t" PvPer knows you cannot follow a guide exactly, as you cannot prepare for EVERYTHING. If a decent amount defense, 75% block, and a good amount of life doesn't save you from whatever is attacking, the problem is about 24 inches from your monitor.

Edit: Unless they changed the -resist cap on Conviction since patch, I personally have not used a FoHer since early 1.09.

Edit again: I don't have access to a character editor for 1.10, so most of these builds I create are from the top of my head. I haven't made a Conviction pally for a long time, so I was unaware of the cap. Build has been adjusted accordingly. Kudos to Great-Thanatos for pointing that out.

Yes Yes...kudos to me... yes i am the bomb lol but ya -150% is the highest u can go with convic so....DONT WASTE POINTS i see my friend doing that and it annoyes the hell outa me!!!!

A lot of Pkers most of the time will have a positive hell resistance, but it is hard to have the that number be high. My LvL 81 Pally HandOfDivinity was almost gone in a couple hits by a LvL 67 FoH pally, so it does considerable damage. By the way my regular Light Resis is 30, and he reduced it to -100, so like Great-Thanatos said, it doesn't take a lot of points into conviction to take resis down, not to mention the lowering of defense too.
