I should have waited :(

I pre-ordered the Kindle 2 and it was shipped to my home in Cali. So I have not actually opened it yet. Well now the Kindle 2 DX release is imminent and I am like wtf, why didn't I just wait and get that. Anyone else own a Kindle or Kindle 2? Should I return my Kindle 2 and get the DX when it comes out?

A tablet PC consumes battery power while reading. A kindle does not.

I don't even have the slightest clue what that thing is.

Yea you can run a Kindle on batteries for a very very long time without recharging.

It is an e-reader. With 3G wireless. So any book, magazine, or newspaper on Amazon and some other sites I can get on my Kindle within 60 seconds. Oh and it connects to Wikipedia, so whenever I am curious about something I bust out the Kindle and look it up. Basically it is the real deal Hitcherhikers Guide to the Planet.

It's an eBook reader.

The original Kindle (and Kindle 2) have a 6" display, and the units themselves are about four inches by five inches. They use an e-paper display to show text. The reason for using e-paper is that it needs now backlight and is thus easier on the eyes. E-paper also uses drastically less power than an LCD or OLED display, as the only power needed is a quick burst to change pixels to and from black.

The Kindle DX uses exactly the same technology, and has a 9.7" display rather than 6". This allows it to show larger pages, such as newspapers and magazines, which is what it's being marketed as - a newspaper reader (it will supposedly save the fourth estate from the technological revolution).

I bought for the Wikipedia aspect of it. Plus books. I think I am just going to stick with the smaller Kindle, its easier to fit cargo pockets.
