I agree, for that is true in any scope of linguistic and symbolic conversation. However, the writer always leads his or her audience where they want their audience to go, for that is the purpose of any and all texts. It should be kept in mind at all times when writing an academic text to not lead your readers into the blind oblivion that vague writings can, and do in fact offer. That is the practice of an excellent writer.
