Guild Wars: Eye of the North

For my "Game a Week" I've decided to take a drastic step away from the PS3, and do instead a PC game - Guild Wars: Eye of the North.

The latest, and final, chapter in the first GW franchise is a direct sequel to the first campaign, Prophecies, and so requires at least one previous chapter to be installed for it to work, unlike Factions and Nightfall that can be played as stand-alone games.

EotN takes players back to Tyria, further north into the homeland of the Charr and the unexplored Far Shiverpeaks, south past the Maguuma Jungle into the homeland of the Asura, Tarnished Coast, and underground, in giant networks of caves and dungeons.

Three new races are being introduced (though they are unplayable) - the tough Norn from the Far Shiverpeaks, the tiny, magical and highly intelligent Asura, and the mysterious Sylvari.

NCSoft have also built into the game something called the "Hall of Monuments". As Guild Wars 2 requires you to create a brand new character, EotN will allow you to basically immortalise your current characters in their own, individual halls, achievements, ranks, weapons, armour and heroes collected. These will be tied in to specific items in GW2, giving your GW2 character a helping hand along the way.

NCSoft are confident that Eye of the North will display some of the best graphics seen in Guild Wars so far (and I can assure you none GW players that the graphics from the original chapter alone are fantastic), and say that the game will act as a prologue to GW2.

It is released on the 31st August, for PCs.
