More and more, older computer technology will serve you well today. Use the chips of yesterday, optimized with the solutions for today, and you get cooler, smaller chips. I think the reason most laptops today don't get smaller, however, is that they are already barely larger than the standard harddrives. I'd expect that Intel is using a custom harddrive.
