Why the hate for RE: Zero?

Now, I recall at its launch a lot of unwarranted hostility towards it I believe stemmed from the fact it was a Gamecube-only release, but even to this day people are apt to remark its a subpar game which I disagree with. It may indeed be my love for fantasy that made me partial to this game's movement a bit more to the fantastical (not sci-fi but pure fantasy) things like the villain's wearing a robe and using a song to control his army of leeches. This is a distinctly un-RE concept in my estimation and it does seem unliked by most people but I honestly enjoyed Marcus and his whole story which was both interesting and sensible.

Now, Billy Coen was a definitely good character and worked well when compared to guys like Chris who I just..never took to at all. He has the tough guy look and a bit of the attitude to match in the beginning, but he softens quickly and his own story is also intriguing if a bit odd. Rabecca is...Rabecca. She was endurable.

The only thing I can comment negatively on is the boss fights which weren't very challenging in the laast. I mean, the Queen Leech has power yes, but the fight wasn't all it could have been. The Proto Tyrant wins for being possibly the most ugly thing in the entire series, though.

Overall, I enjoyed this game and felt inclined to play it twice in a row. If you own a GC and haven't played it, don't listen to the nay-sayers. This game is a pleasant way to spend your time.

"..and the world will burn in an inferno of hate!"
