Which model is it?

This makes a big difference. I've got a PS2 that's done the same thing (but sill plays PS1 games oddly eneough), and due to it's model I can't fix it myself. There's a guide on here somewhere that tells you what to do, how to change the laser position. But only works on the first 4 models. Anything more and it don't...lucky me, I've got the model 5000 or whatever it is.

So, yeah. Which model is it?

I think that you can phone up Sony Customer Services and they'll tell you how to send it to them to be fixed - you only need to pay for shipping to them. They fix it for free and ship it back to you for free. I think...
