The reason mods were around were to ban idiots like Pinoy, but they never really jumped on the spam like they do now. There was a time I was getting a 100+ posts a day almost. If I did that now, there would be severe reprecussions. Quite a bit of spam was tolerated back then, and even though it occasionally dragged the thread off-topic, it was more fun. Now all the mods are strictly about keeping order in a thread. If it goes slightly off-topic, or if they don't like it, it's closed and trashed.
