Yes, 790 is very very good. I got a 740 and 730 both times I took it. Although I only got a 490 and 560 in my verbal sections.

Still, a combined 1300 isn't too shabby. BTW, whoever wrote the 1337 score post, maybe you were joking, but just to inform you, you can only get scores that are multiples of 10 in the SAT's.
