probably had a party and some friends tossed a porno in the vcr or something, and they thought they would toss the remote in the mailbox, a spot he would never look, therefore making him turn it off via the vcr taking longer (not much, but still longer) than with the remote, hence making them laugh. yeah thats not close, but it could happen.
