What do you expect out of a game review?
 

I was thinking of doing a review for some games and was wondering exactly what do you people think should be the content of a review?

some examples of what I am looking for is
do you think there should be a lot of opinion about the game?
or do you think it should be more factual and how well it compares to others in the genre also
some ppl Like to do reviews based on different parts of the game
such as Gameplay, innovation, Graphics, Multiplayer, sound etc. do you think it should be reviewed like that and if so what should it be broken up into?

Screenshots, detail description of the gameplay but dont let us in on the plot to much, ratings in different categories such as Sound(music and normal sound effects) graphics, gameplay, story, replayabiltie.... also tell us how you think the game will last few months down the road, for example a mmorpg vs a game like morrowind.... 1 will last a great legnth and well i think weve all finished our morrowind phase (cept WetWired) =P

WW will play a game 3x longer then most people will =0

Actually, I just started Morrowind about 3 weeks ago. I wasn't going to get it, except I had to find out what all these people were talking about. Probably as soon as I finish, Freelancer and Master of Orion 3 come out, so I'm sure I'll move on quickly.

Break it up into different parts, and remember to have a general score too.

yes

the score is mostlly what people look at.... i think that a bunch of people should rate it and the adverage should be made as the score... because many people have different styles of games that they like...

yeah, like a panel of raters.

I expect a lot of sex and violence, and a couple cliffhangers for suspense.

This is for games, not movies you know.

Divide it into categories (graphics, gameplay, sound, etc) and then once you've given the facts and your opinions on all of those categories, give your overall opinion of the game as a whole.
