"Don't do stupid shit"
What do you guys think of Obama's foreign policy slogan?
He's been getting flak from presidential hopefuls for his overly-cautious approach in the Middle East and abroad. Do you guys support a non-interventionist US or a Bush-era imposer? I for one agree with the former. Even if it leaves a vacuum, I always thought the US should withdraw from its cold war mindset of being the "savior" and proponent of coups and rebellions. It spawned the problem of Israel, it lost us billions in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and it generates overall instability. |
I think it's a very complicated issue that people seem to want to simplify into two opposing sides, like most complicated issues. Nobody wants to consider opposing viewpoints, or the merits of either approach, they just want to pick a side and ignore anyone who doesn't agree with them.

We have enough problems here in the US to waste money and resources on other countries' shit. Then again, that's the cost of being the biggest importer in the world. Most of those problems we're "fixing" is probably just investment protection.

These coups are paid for by the same people who are fighting them. The proxy wars are strong around the world.

I actually think it romantic to consider the US a modern empire and proxy wars the means of its sovereign control.
