Vista Speech Recognition
 

Is awesome, I configured mine.

Now when I'm at my computer I say:

Open internet
Bookmarks
Zelaron
Double click New Post
Double click (whatever post I want)
Show numbers (it shows an overlay with numbers on each of the items you can select, then chose the number for quick reply)
Type (start talking and it starts typing)
Double click post quick reply
Close internet
Open Music
Open Puddle of Mudd
Play She fucking hates me

That would be so badass, can you configure it with games? That would bring a whole new edge to keybindings in WoW.

Before: Your a clicker, you will never beat someone with keybindings. (lies)
After: You keybind?! haha fag, I voice recognize my skills.

I would so buy vista if it could do that.

Fuck that. I can't imagine anything nerdier than saying "Cast frostbolt. Cast frostbolt. Cast frostbolt. Cast frost nova. Cast blink." to my computer.

Sounds like a cool setup you have, though, SYG. I'll have to look into it. I haven't really done much with my Vista. There's probably plenty of shit I'm not using that I could be.

I'm downloading the macro addon for it now, it lets you make your own speech commands. For example I can make a command that goes like this:
Tell me about Julius Ceaser
And then the computer automatically opens the internet, goes to wikipedia, and pulls up the Ceaser article for me to read.
I have not tried any games with it yet, so I am not sure it works with them, but I will give it a try on Spore and post my results later.

Yea, I agree there..especially in pvp you'd fucking lsoe your voice so fast..and I mean, who here doesn't get mad and start cursing?

That would throw you off so bad...


But cool idea nonetheless...practical, not very though for games.

You could make macros, for example if your a mage make a frost nova, teleport macro. Now have your speech recognition use that macro when you shout "ambushed". So using a combination of mouse, keyboard and voice you will have the fatest reflexes.

say "(petname) Attack"
Your character selects target in front of you, cast Hunter's Mark and sends your pet to attack.

As your walking is over corpses in pve, say "loot" and your character picks up nearest loot.

When your running the flag in PvP, (as a hunter) say "cripple" and your hunter uses that cripple sword swipe move on the target in front of you and then uses his speed boost stance right after it.

These are just some examples I can think of for quick reflex actions you can use in WoW.

You're not going to make the loot work very reliably, since there's no way for the macro to know where to click.

Have you tried programming with it yet?

That was decently funny but the guy was also very retarded.

Had an actual real life need for speech recognition today... they were serving various Chicken Wings at dining facility today. I grabbed plate to go, sat in front of my computer and started eating, but forgot some napkins. Still able to browse the web FTW.

Use your elbows, man! Better to mash the keys madly than spray food all over the screen.
