Boredom led me to a thought..

Ok, It is now around 1:45 A.M. and I find myself bored. So I started brainstorming ideas about the current gaming consoles and systems. Then I had an Idea about a Whole different kind of console. So, Let's say(Hypothetically) That I made a console which had the shape of a dragon sitting down. The four paws would be where the controller plugged in. In the middle of the stomach would be where the Memory Cards would go, Let's say there would be Two. And to insert a game you would hold a button and lift up the dragons head, The head would tilt back and, similar to most of the consoles, a place to insert a Disk would be there. So basically, It would be a console which had the form of an Animal, I.E, Tiger, Shark, Dragon, Griffin, etc. Do you think it could work?

I don't see why not - all it is, really, is a shaped shell around the mechanical parts.

If the animal is lying down, and has a fat belly, then you could even have a slot-loading drive, and a built in Hard Drive that you can upgrade yourself (much like the PS3 with its PC hard drives), which gives the added advantage that you can use animals such as cats, which have small heads and largish bellies.

M'hm, However, It seems more up Nintendos alley, or perhaps some new franchise all together. I think Sony is going to stick with the current layout they have etc. Seems like it would be geared towards animal lovers/ Mythical beast lovers. I figured it would work and stuff since, as you said, it is basically a shell. And another thing, The eyes of the animal being used could be sensors for Wireless controllers, or even the Wii's controllers, But I think the Wii is satisfied with it's current sensor. I figured if someone could get Sony or Nintendo to let them make the Shells for them and send it to them so they could set up the Equipment inside of it. Seems like it could either sell alot, or crash and burn.

Cool you made another design for the gamecube.

Asamin 2008-05-13 06:01 PM

Or any other system. Xbox it to bulky though.

Coriander 2008-05-13 06:06 PM

M'hm Asamin, Which is why I didn't include it on possibilities for the shell. If someone could come out with a neat powerful system then I would patent this Idea or something and sell it to the people.

Asamin 2008-05-13 06:09 PM

If you really wanted to you could press Mac to make a game system to compeat with Windows. I bet they would come through with it. Don't know how well the animal thing would go down though...

Is there any way that you could transfer your vision into a drawing of some sort? An actual visual of it would make or break it.

Coriander 2008-05-13 07:00 PM

Yes I will draw something, I'm not a very good drawere so please forgive the crudeness, I'll post an image of it in a minute or three.

Coriander 2008-05-13 07:17 PM

Removed it, Upload a better one soon.

What I am also saying is that it could also be Pokemon Monsters, Doesn't just have to be Mythical beasts.

Coriander 2008-05-13 09:07 PM

Here, This is a much better way to show you my Idea.

Not bad. Dragons are cooler.

Coriander 2008-05-13 09:10 PM

Unfortanetly I do not have a Dragon Cup or I would have used it. I also had another thought. Maybe it could have a compartment somewhere, say if it is a Squirtle Shell, like my cup. The back would have one of those old school Rumble Pack deals like the N64, and sense the tail of the animal would help support the shell. Maybe when you played a game with the 'Shell Rumble' on the Shell in question would vibrate whenever your controller did. With an option to remove the pack in case you have it setting in a precarious spot.

Coffeedagger 2008-05-14 02:21 PM

lol kinda cool idea, still reminds me alot of a game cube.

Coriander 2008-05-14 02:22 PM

That a bad thing?

Coffeedagger 2008-05-14 02:30 PM

no just its a new redesign, more interesting than a lunchbox.

Coriander 2008-05-14 02:31 PM

Aaaah, Gotcha.

Wallow 2008-05-14 02:46 PM

Dude typos...

Coriander 2008-05-14 02:48 PM

I see no hurry to get this Idea patented or anything like that, I think In order to get it patented you have to have a Working item, Meaning..I'd have to rip out the interier of a game cube and fit in my squirtle cup and cut little slots in the hands for the controller and add a wireless sensor in the eye and the other shit.
But I won't..I love my Squirtle cup.

That's a very good idea, but I think it would appeal more to the youth. I'm thinking ages four to maybe oldest is fifteen, it's just not very attractive. Appealing to the eye maybe but it seems like an arcade sorta game, now if you want to attract an older and more intuitive crowd I suggest you focus more on performance than appearance.

What sony and xbox and mostly all other gameing industries are playing around with is the idea of a computer/gaming system. Maybe you should go one step ahead of them with a compact computer of some sorts. I'm going to refrence the new psp by sony, it's very good has somewhat okay internet capabilities but it's inadequete in the way that the link is horrible and you need to add things to it to get it going at the normal speed a laptop would.

Another idea would be to make something both fun and pretty easy for even adults to use, like maybe it has something like the izune where it scans the CD you put in saving it's contents on a hard drive for maybe a limited amount of days or something so you don't carry the CD around with you instead it's all there on this "animal" like console. I'm just playing around with ideas that already exist, but as I stated earlier if you really want this thing to sell to all ages you have to look more at performance than anything else. :D

One more note, maybe you could make it compatible with most other systems, that would deffinately get it to sell a lot easier if your going to persue this idea.
