If you are actually asking how you should make the image itself you want to use in your avatar, there is a vast amount of different graphics editors, image editing software, 3D software and so on for creating your own images. Anything from Microsoft Paint to Adobe Photoshop or Maya will work, depending on what exactly you're after.
