ISP Privacy
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, they straight up babysit what I download, it's funny though they only call me out on it when it is shit I refuse to buy from them, like HBO and Showtime series' Like Weeds(strike one) Dexter(strike two) And now John Adams they suspend my internet access untilll I call them and tell them "Oops my bad" and they turn it back on, and this time they didn't mention a strike.. Haha they were bluffing, or it is just taking a while to file charges.
Anyway I would like to block them viewing any torrents I download, possible? |
Can you go into more ... precise English on what happened? I'm really interested and have no idea what you said, haha. What ISP do you use?
Cox, I buy their cable tv and internet.
I download tons of media, usually at well over 2megabytes per second. Mostly old movies and porn, but whenever I download a show that they just played on one of their 'premium' channels they suspend my internet and threaten me. |
Where are you getting it from? Bittorrent only?
Yea, if I can't find it quickly by torrent, I usually don't bother.
That's really creepy that they can be that specific in targeting what you download. The only thing I can think of is Tor, but I would guess it's bitterly slow for downloading.
I wonder if their sniffers are looking for .torrent downloads or the actual torrent traffic. For the .torrent downloads, you could always download them elsewhere and copy them to your computer. Maybe you can find a secure proxy so they can't snif that. For the torrent traffic, I know that BitCommet and several other torrent clients support traffic obfuscation and use non-standard ports to evade detection; what client do you use?
Utorrent currently, They got me with Bittorrent on the first two strikes
IIRC, that has all the obfuscation features I mentioned.
The only reason I switched to Utorrent was because I reinstalled my os and my network drivers were causing crashes as soon as I started Bittorrent, I have since fixed the drivers problem and I supose I will switch back to Bittorrent and try for another strike (or hopefully not)
I'd definately reccomend against normal bittorrent if your ISP is giving you trouble.
