Chat box/Shoutbox

Install a chat-box, or shoutbox. Just throw it up to look similar to a banner at the top of the page or something, and just throw the refresh as every 30 seconds or something. I think it'd be a cool little feature that could be implemented to par some side discussions that are on the fly. (this feature would be IDEAL for Zelaron Multiplayer games).

The other boards that I surf have this link underneath the "ShoutOut" box.

I think it'd be a cool idea, just an opinion though I know it's been discussed before.

Does Zelaron have an IRC channel anywhere, while we're on the subject?

I like IRC far better than shoutboxes.

Server: irc.freenode.net
Channel: #zelaron

Yep. I'm always there, usually being a Master Idler.

But y'all should seriously make me a perma-op there. That way I can set the topic and make it look like we have occasional activity. <3

A chatbox / shoutbox sounds like a good ideal. I had one on my forum at one point and I could talk directly with people at that moment.

D3V 2008-02-06 06:33 AM

That's why I think everyone would enjoy it, just a live, real-time box like a chatbox where people wouldn't have to directly use a new post in a thread to communicate.

Sounds good to me.

We would have to make sure that guests and newbies couldn't use it until a certain amout of posts.

We used to have a chat box. I liked it, but now I think it sort of defeats the purpose of a forum. The WRT is practically a chat box anyway.

That makes sence, but for people who like to debate quickly it would be nice.

Like I stated in the first post, I just like the usability it could possibly have for people playing the Multiplayer games I've been trying to camapign for, but it seems neither are really cared for. I'm just interested in playing some chess with a few forum members.

Multiplayer games would be nice as well, though I agree with you, no one is really taking to it. Or they just are ignoring your posts, either way I don't see either as happening.

KagomJack 2008-02-07 04:25 PM

People are reading it, it's just a matter of having someone implement it and getting enough support behind the idea.

Thanatos 2008-02-07 04:43 PM

we r lazy round heere

You could come up with the best idea in the world and you'd get to watch it die.

Nothing gets done around here, nothing is going to change, the forum is never going to be like it used to be. I've accepted it and I no longer care.

D3V 2008-02-08 08:12 AM

Demod?

!King_Amazon! 2008-02-08 03:16 PM

DIAF?

What's new, someone said something about WW being lazy so WW did something. The same thing happened when Grav spoke out against WW. It's only temporary.

Lenny 2008-02-08 04:51 PM

So if we want something done, we have to call WW lazy and speak out against him?

Nice to see the Shoutbox implemented.

!King_Amazon! 2008-02-08 05:29 PM

Pretty much.

And I agree, the shoutbox is pretty sweet. It's much easier than an IRC and I think it will be pretty active. However, I have a feeling it will lower forum activity.
