Internet privacy may disappear soon
Moreso than it already has, of course. Technically speaking, using the Internet leaves your information open to snooping. (Email is insecure, for example.) However, apparently the U.S. wants to make it openly legal (rather than quasi-legal, as the NSA already datamines) to spy on you.

What good can come of this? What is the government's motivation for doing this? Terrorists? GTFO. This is incredibly lame.

It's already happening elsewhere (wiretapping, for instance) so this isn't really a surprise. It's just that few realize it's happening.

Well, electronic surveillance has been going on since the cold war, so you can't blame it all on Bush, but it's certainly made great strides since the good 'ol Patriot Act. Observe the link in my sig.
