Remove Inactive Threads

No I don't mean delete all inactive threads. I want the thing where threads get no posts for (90?) days and then go "inactive" where nobody can post in them except for mods and such, unless it is stickeyed, to go away. It's no fun :(

I agree.

Why not set your preferences to show threads from the past month only? They'll still all be active to some degree (or at least not expired).

Way to read my post lenny.

Lenny 2007-02-02 12:29 PM

Oh... I read it as getting rid of inactive posts. Not the getting rid of an expiry time.

WetWired 2007-02-02 01:17 PM

Trust me, thread expiration is a good thing.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-02 01:40 PM

How so? What exactly is so bad about being able to post in a thread that hasn't had any posts in 90 days?

WetWired 2007-02-02 01:51 PM

People post posts that are only marginally relevant to a thread from months ago instead of starting a new thread on the real subject, which is more likely to generate interest and discussion.

!King_Amazon! 2007-02-02 02:46 PM

Activity is activity, sometimes thread digging can be quite funny.

Demosthenes 2007-02-02 03:01 PM

I agree. Sometimes a new thread would not really make sense, especially if it's in the context of another post.

Titusfied 2007-02-05 12:56 PM

Then you need to recap the thread, post the thread link for others to read up on if they wish, THEN make your comment.

I mean, I wouldn't do it, because it's too much work for a lazy Titusfied, but if you really want to make a comment on an expired thread, then it's the least you can do.

That's exactly the point. I'm sure many people would feel this way. They may have a valid point to make on an expired thread but would not do so because they're lazy.

Grav 2007-02-05 08:30 PM

How about you just ask me about a thread you want and I might bring it back

Titusfied 2007-02-06 05:38 AM

That's just as much energy expended. Like just typing this post was too much, yet I'm still typing. Stupid Ditus.
