Pardon This Rather Odd Question?

hello my rpg making friends, i have come across a rather Curious question

is it possible to make a "secret of mana / FF Tactics" game... (non Turn Based Battle (Walkin' around killin' fools)) I dont really expect a response, but thanks in advance

(i'll be checking daily jus' to make sure if my evil plot is true ^_^)

RMXP or RM2k3, it is possible to do anything. RM2K3 only limits it to 700 common events or so, but RMXP uses scripts, and text doesn't take up much space, so it has unlimited options. A FFTA Battle system was already made by a scriptor known as Squall, but it was encrypted, so I can't share the script with you. Sword Of Mana? That can be done without scripting, just events and common events. Just make sure you never use the random battle encounter feature, or you'll have Legend of Zelda one moment and Final Fantasy the next.

Welcome to Zelaron. We have free, moist, towelettes.

what'dya mean by ''encrypted'' pardon my ignorance.
and could you please go into a tad bit more detail in the 'events / common events' im not good with all that technical mumbojumbo (sorry)

and one more thing, who do you think'd win outta a fight between Zero and X (both fully suped up) (pardon the pointless question :) )

EDIT-- scriptors must be geniuses

Encrypted refers to the RMXP file of which has been Encypted. Encypted simply means that it's all lumped together, and that noone can go into the file and change, veiw, or import, export anything.

Err. I'm not sure I should be the one to go 'into' the subject of event driven battle systems. I'll surely make a Legend of Zelda game, someday. Until then I'm not but a wee n00b.

Zero. His Zet-saber can deal around the same damage of X's charged shot... Yet damage alone wouldn't be hardly enough. X can fly, when powered up, and basically go anywhere. Zero is faster, and has raw power. X can shoot side to side, and with enemies weapon data, he can shoot in alot of other directions. Zero shoots side to side, but also has 360 degree sword sweeps. Zero can dash under shots, so can X. Zero has an attack called Tenshouzan in which hee leaps upwards with his sword out, and that can pretty much take out any low ground flying attacks. The match is pretty even, I'm actaully not quit sure who would win in a CPU controlled battle, but other than that it's a test of pure sidescolling mettle. Probably the reason Capcom never put the two head to head with 2 human players. 2 Zero's in MMZ2, but that was as close as it came. I'll make a flash. Okie?(Zero will win godammit)

Scriptors are just people who learn the ruby syntax, find a need, want, or problem, and fix it.

do you have AOL - yahoo - msn... if so can i add ya :) plus thanks for the help :) ill try a tad of trial and error in the common events guff....but once again THANKS! you rock, and so does Zero (im on his side in him vs X)

and are you seriously gunna make a flash (Zero v X) just because i spawned that odd question.. if so then YOU ROCK MAN!

ps. do you like Goldfinger (the band)

Atnas 2006-09-04 05:01 PM

Can't say I've looked into their stuff. I will now. Here's the song I was thinking of for the battle. I like the pun.(rockman) You just gave me the idea when you spawned... :P But I'm gonna do it. I have all the sprites. I have the knowledge. I have a preloader. Now all I need is the sound effects, like X and Zero's battle... grunts... I'll start tonight!

I've just recently set a new partition on my Hardrive for XP, so I haven't put AIM on again. I'll download it, then we can chat.

Actually what you could do is download Sim RPG Maker 95(yes i know it is rather old). I'm not really sure on how to import files to it because it doesn't have an import button. So download at your own risk.

How's Cloud in the sack, hunny?

Sorry couldn't resist.

Yarr. Australia be in different time zone. Dekar, We might not run into each other too often, what with the clocks being flipped around. I'll try and get ahold of you when I'm finished.

Goldfinger was mediocre, not the best, not the worst. Better than the leading brand.
