Literal DESK top

You might have seen it before.

It's a pretty interesting concept. It'd need some getting used to, especially after years on windows, but it does look like it might work. And there's the added bonus of being able to confuse friends when they see you playing with it at speed. :p

Lol! That's neat! I've gotta get that instead of a new desktop... Except it looks like it would be really different and possibly not support some of my favorite programs... and it would over heat, plus how much RAM would you need for all that?

Lenny 2006-06-28 03:54 PM

I honestly haven't a clue. :p

It looks like a concept program atm.

People who I've already shown it to can't see the useful side of it... but I suppose with having a really slow computer upstairs with hundreds of icons all grouped in horrible groups by the story they correspond to, well, I can see the good side of something like it.

I'd like to see it in use IRL, not just a video. And a constant single colour background could get kinda boring after a while. :p

Very neat toy. Initially, I wasn't very convinced about its usefulness, but the ability to quickly sort smaller selections of documents appears to be very nice.

More importantly however, who would name their kid Snehal Garg?

Willkillforfood 2006-06-28 06:15 PM

Yea ...I definitely want them to sort all of the 100k+ files on my computer.

Lenny 2006-07-01 04:54 AM

Snehal Garg... sure it's not a nickname? Lot's of people would use a nickname instead of a real name on things - like you'd use Chruser, and I'd use Lenny.

Either that, or he's from some kind of Norselandic Country.

Chruser 2006-07-01 08:33 AM

No, it doesn't sound very Norse. Apparently Snehal is a common first name in India, supposedly taken from a hill named Snehal Shah. Would you name your kid after a hill?

Atnas 2006-07-01 09:44 AM

I'm naming my kid Yu-Gi-Oh.

HandOfHeaven 2006-07-01 12:36 PM

You gotta name one kid Yu, the other Gi, the other Oh, and then when you round em out just yell 'YU-GI_OH!!!

Atnas 2006-07-01 12:43 PM

So many children! I'm thinking of yelling 'It's Time to D-d-d-d-u-d-u-DUEL' around im'. Eep. Snehal... Huh... Ya, I knew that the Indians were up to something. I mean. Theyr'e NEVER in the news, right?
Jk... Thinking about that device makes my head spin. It's like a PC and a DS in one.:bitch:

Willkillforfood 2006-07-01 06:01 PM

Your kid is gonna have a hard life, lol.

Sovereign 2006-07-01 08:24 PM

Save up for psych bills now.

Lenny 2006-07-03 04:02 PM

My surname was originally a Hill. Then a farm. Then a town. Then a district. Then banned throughout Scotland because some King threw a paddy at being usurped. Cheeky bugger.

But naming someone directly after a Hill...

Hmmm. Pendle Smith. Cowpe Jones. Everest Higginbottom.

Sovereign 2006-07-04 04:08 AM

Anyone know if someone has named their child after a pokemon yet.

Lenny 2006-07-04 12:14 PM

There's bound to be at least one person somewhere. I bet your bottom dollar that they're Japanese.
