Battle text question...

I tried to find some information about battle text windows in the searches, but came up short - didn't find much in the help file either. I was wondering if there was a way to make the window appear at the bottom of the battle screen, instead of at the top - I know you can change it in a normal map, but I can't find a way to do it on a battle screen. Can anyone help, please?

On the other hand, I do not believe you can because it interfers with the battle menus. Maybe if you had a character use a spell that was activated via a switch so you could add your own text via a text box, which you could use the option to adjust the text box at the bottom.

Confused?

Hmm...it makes sense what you're saying (although I'm very new to this program), but what is confusing is that I have the speech before a round is even initiated - Thus, the battle menus at the bottom aren't even there. It just seems like it IS possible, I was just wondering the easiest way to do it.

And with what you mentioned, would that be some sort of event to have the character automatically cast the spell? I understand what you're implying, although I don't think I'd have the ability to script that out just yet.

Know what, it didn't work they way I planned. I just tried it and what happens is the battle bar appears before the text box would anyways. It's not letting anything appear on top of it.

May I ask why you want to do this anyways?

For the first fight - I'm wanting my characters to interact with each other, while on the same screen as the bad guys - kinda like in Final Fantasy 3/6, where Terra, Locke and Edgar are talking in mid-battle after they leave Figaro Desert on the Chocobos. The only difference in mine is that it's at the very beginning, before any rounds of action are taken.

I'm a thinking that it's possible to do it as an event in the Battle Window in the database. Maybe if you make it a common event and set it to start at the start of this special battle, it will work.

BC will know. He always does!

Can't do it without faking it with a battle animation. Messages ignore placement within a battle, and pictures can't be displayed normally. The biggest problem with that approach is that the animation will have to be timed, and can't be skipped... and it'll have to be placed correctly. You can use Show Battle Animation in place of the normal text box, in this case.

Edit: Make sure the animation is set to 'global', as well

Also, apparently you cannot remove the battlemenu at the bottom, so the only time you can do this is on turn 0 anyway

This could take a while to set up, but if you make a panorama that looks like a battle and go to a map that only has that panorama before the battle you could do all your messages there then have it transition to the battle (Make sure to change the system sound and music for the best transition).

Okay - I will work on trying that. Thanks everyone for your help.
