Getting a Grasp...Simple Magic Attacks

This tutorial IS different than the first one I posted. This will show you an interesting technique when making a simple attack, but it will save you a LOT of time...

First, open up your Database. Then click Animations. Remember when you made the 3 extra spaces? Here is where the last one comes into play. This will teach you the Autocomplete function. If you haven't played with it yet, well now here is your chance.

Click on your empty animations space. Name it whatever you want, I won't make you use my names this time. But you will have to choose the bow1 animation file. Now, this part is determined by the spell, but basically, the more frames you have, the slower, but longer, the animation will be (for this tutorial). The arrow is going to go from just off screen to hitting the creature.

Here is where we are going to start the arrow:

To get this, you will have to scroll the window right a little bit...

Here is the 10th frame of this animation:

On the 9th frame, you will have to put where the whole arrow is going to end:

Now, Click the Autocomplete button and it will bring up this window:

Frame Range is the Frames you are going to start the animation on and end with. Cel Range is the cels you are going to use to complete the animations. Only Autocomplete frames 1-9 so you don't erase your last frame and have to do it over. Also, choose the cel of animation you want to complete, which, in this case, is cel 1. Now, click the woundrous play button and watch your masterpiece unfold before your eyes.

Now you know the wonders of the Magic Creation System of RPG Maker 2003. Maybe later I will do a tutorial for Mass Modify, but I will have to study that tricky little thing a little more before I post on it.

NOTE: If you choose to Autocomplete with multiple cels, it will divide the total frames with the number of cels and you will end up with a really really slow animation with however many cels. EXAMPLE: if you have 9 frames and you choose to use 3 cels, Autocomplete will make your animation look like a cheesy gif that you see online. Only Autocomplete to move 1 cel across multiple frames easily and successfully.

Dude, I don't anything about any of this and I care just as much but I'm glad your doing something for the community. Plus we do get a fair amount of people that need help with this catagory.
