Tools?

What may I ask are the best RM2k3 tools and please could ya tell me where to get them... Muchly thanked.

BlueCube 2006-02-13 07:32 AM

What kind of tools are you talking about?

sciencekid 2006-02-13 09:09 AM

i like idraw and rmtool the best:
idraw: lets you edit characters and stuff
Rmtool: detects missing files and lets you import them
i can send them to you if you like.

Lenny 2006-02-13 01:28 PM

Yep. iDraw is great for making chipsets and the like.

You can find some other tools at www.gamingw.net and www.rpgwolfpack.com if my mind serves me right.

Any specific tools you have in mind?

KittenRat 2006-02-19 09:36 PM

well I just need any random RM2k3 tools just to make my games easyer to make.
And also I don't have the internet at home and I visit this site from work (I say work but well you know) and from my GF's house... I was woundering if there was any good tutorials I can like down load and take home. Or how I would go about getting tutorials home (pity me. No internet and a crappy 667mhz celeron)

sciencekid 2006-02-19 11:37 PM

do you have access to and ability to use a cd burner where there is internet?

KittenRat 2006-02-19 11:53 PM

I can use a burner but i mainly use a thumbdrive

Lenny 2006-02-20 06:32 AM

From what I've seen your best bet for RM2K3 tools is places like:

- www.rpgwolfpack.com (just hover over the menu and choose Game resources from any list that says it - they're all different)

- www.lrpgm.com (if only for Idraw - www.lrpgm.com > Site > Downloads > Idraw right at the bottom of the page)

- and www.gamingw.net (for Tutorials click RPGMaker 2003 under the Makers section of the menu, and there are a few tools under Utilities in the Developers part of the menu).

Hope that helps.

Oh, and in answer to your question about taking tutorials home, you should be able to copy and paste the text into word, or you can save the page it's on onto your USB drive.

sciencekid 2006-02-20 10:24 PM

ok that works too. i could send you the two tools(rmtool and the newest version of idraw: version 3.32) that i mentioned, and the newest rpgmaker2003 version, minus the rtp install thingy(it's to big to send, you can get it from bluecube) and then you can put the files on the thumbdrive and take it home! as for the tutorial, take lenny's advice and put them on word and save them on the thumbdrive and take it home. ok?

It's like Christmas all over again! :D!!

You know, I think sciencekid is becoming the new odd-job Guru around here. It seems to be tradition that the newest member who joins (the RM2K3 forum being a factor in why they joined) becomes the odd-job guru. I mean, I tried it, Wed-G tried it, sciencekid is trying it.

But we all know, in our heart of hearts, that we shall never be as good as the almighty BlueCube.

ALL HAIL BLUECUBE!

sciencekid 2006-02-21 11:05 AM

lol can't argue w/ that! ALL HAIL BLUECUBE!

Chruser 2006-02-21 12:02 PM

Hey guys, I'm impressed by the fact that this section is still going strong. I haven't touched RPGMaker in years, but skimming through some recent threads here makes me want to reinstall it. Mantis Reactor was lots of fun to make back in the way. What happened to that Zelaron game project anyway?

Lenny 2006-02-21 12:13 PM

Game projects usally fail unfortunately...at least that seems to be the case.

Glad to see we're not a forgotten section. :p

If you are going to reinstall an RPGMaker, DON'T INSTALL RMXP!! It's horrifically bad.

I agree completely. (Unless, of course, you really like Ruby)

And as to what happened to that Zelaron game, wasn't Penguin in charge of that? I remember Grav being a chef in that game for some reason. Going through town and trying to find everyone you wanted was a bit difficult, but some good dialog lines came out of that, if I recall.

I did this myself a long time ago, actually. Took RM2k3 to work for some reason, boss thought it was hilarious what kind of stuff you can do (having a particular administrator deny access to music would shut off the BGM in the middle of a battle, for example)

As to RM2k3 files, as sciencekid said - if you need them, PM me and I'll send you the links.

(And I still use MSPaint for pretty much all of my image-related needs.)

Lenny 2006-02-22 04:37 AM

:P The fun you can have at work with RM2K3.

I've never been able to get MSPaint to work for me concerning images for games. iDraw, on the other hand, has still to fail me.

Every man to his own. :)

KittenRat 2006-02-27 12:57 AM

Quite frankly I use Idraw (thank you for the link people) and well Char-Ex (and again thanks) see my prob is this, I cant get to most of the good sites like www.gamingw.net and anything that is blacked for games or entertainment. IT SUX ohh and my boss already has RM2k3 i gave that to him ages ago.

HIAL LORD BLUECUBE OF RM2K3

A post from the owner.... at first i thought i was in the shit.... but no Im special.... YAY.

Lenny 2006-02-27 09:53 AM

He's really a friendly little monkey, no need to be afeared of him...unless you've stolen his Swedish Monkey Nuts.

If you can't get things at work, then try accessing them through proxy sites. Ones that have been recommended to me are:

https://proxify.com – Good for school, doesn’t do forms (don't forget https)

http://www.neoambient.com/86prox/ - Does forms

http://70.84.193.226/omgwtf/ - List of Proxies

If those don't work then just search the archives on here for "Proxy sites". I remember a topic not that long ago that dealt with them.
