New Computer

Yeah, so, sometimes something good comes out of something bad. The other night my harddrive crashed. We're getting it looked at, but my dad said 'Well, maybe we should get a new one anyways.'

I'm letting him choose it, but he's getting some good specs.
3.0 GHZ Processor
1 GB RAM
128 MB Video Card
80 GB Hard Drive
DVD/CD Burner Dual Drive something

I dunno, it's throught dell online, and it will only cost us about 900 bucks or so. I thought it was decent, and a hell of a lot better than my old computer.

By the way, please don't bash me because I know nothing about computers, I don't need to deal with that at the moment because it doesn't contribute to the thread.

i hate Dell, but you dont know anything about computers ill let you slide since Dell is what i recommend for people that dont know about computers. that is good for the price ill say tho, for a Dell

HandOfHeaven 2006-02-11 02:10 PM

If I knew how to build my own, I would, but otherwise I'll play it safe and get a Dell.

I have like...3 Dell's right now. Why do you dislike Dell?

Acer 2006-02-11 03:02 PM

Well, I've dealt with them in the past dealing with my parent's computers and they wouldnt let them upgrade anything without buying from them or the warranty would be voided and all this other stuff. I do highly recommend them to people who don't know anything about computers or knows anyone who does tho.

sciencekid 2006-02-11 04:53 PM

dude, if you needed help building a comp im sure that a lot of us would have been glad to give you advice on what to get for a good price and stuff. heck, if you had a webcam i could have helped you build it right on the spot through IM. o well, it's too late now, you already got the comp. just keep it in mind for the next time, ok? and for everyone else who needs help with their comp and doesn't use firewire, i'd be glad to help. I love to fix and build comps, so it's no trouble at all :)

I see. Yea, that policy is pretty stupid, but meh, their computers come for a good price so I don't mind . . . don't particularly need the waranty.

Mantralord 2006-02-11 08:31 PM

i hear agp is the hot new thing nowadays so be sure to get a 9600se or fx5200 to pair it up with that

Sum Yung Guy 2006-02-12 02:51 AM

I thought PCI Express was the hot new thing Mantra... why are you feeding him lies.

Anyways its a good computer for the price, great for using it to download files and browse the net, but for the latest greatest games I'd upgrade to a 256 meg video card. For something good and cheap go with the ATI Radeon X___ series cards. I have a 256 meg x700 and I play UT2004 with all the settings maxed and no slowdown. Plus my cpu is slower then yours and I have 256 megs less ram then you.

You got a new computer cause your hd crashed? Lucky.

Adrenachrome 2006-02-12 04:01 PM

Well if you don't build your own the absolute best way to go is Dell.

HandOfHeaven 2006-02-12 04:02 PM

Ha yeah, pretty much. My dad just is sick of that peice of shit.

sue_13 2006-02-12 04:29 PM

Is it a Dimension 9100? Those are the exact specs i got for the same price so I'm assuming it is. It comes with a flat panel too which is nice. I'm happy with what I got for the price for sure.

HandOfHeaven 2006-02-12 05:07 PM

Yeah, it is the 9100. My dad hasn't ordered it yet, but he is going to this week.

MightyJoe 2006-02-12 07:48 PM

Your a moron, dell is the easier/cheapest way to have a nice machine. They have packages for like 399 with a monitor and all you'll ever need to do is upgrade the Video card and your set (unless you do alot of video editing, then of course you wont want a fucking dell, but instead a doorstop Mac)

Acer 2006-02-14 02:06 PM

you're a fucking moron because you didnt read what i said... i dont like a dell because i can build my shit a lot cheaper... see that part where i say "recommend for people that dont know about computers" ahh, now be quiet

Willkillforfood 2006-02-17 10:55 PM

I used a dell for a long period of time ...had my bro build my new one for me for hella cheap. I'd really recommend building your own ...the parts have warranties.
