China to build world`s first "artificial sun" experimental device

A full superconducting experimental Tokamak fusion device, which aims to generate infinite, clean nuclear-fusion-based energy, will be built in March or April in Hefei, capital city of east China`s Anhui Province.

Experiments with the advanced new device will start in July or August. If the experiments prove successful, China will become the first country in the world to build a full superconducting experimental Tokamak fusion device, nicknamed "artificial sun", experts here said.

If they can get this working then they'll become so rich!

Finally, something is happening about the fuel problems too. :)

/discuss. Hehehe, I've always wanted to do that. :p

That's pretty cool. Except China is rapidly becoming super powerful. If they decide they hate the U.S., we're in deep shit.

Also, how come the U.S. doesn't even have the first type of this reactor? I guess we're just oil-abusing SUV driving fools.

i can see the end of mankind... i really can

:p

If you combine this reactor with the Sobots, well, we're goners. :)

First the Koreans, now the Chinese, what next? The Russians sending men to Mars?

The oil-businesses do far to well in America. If anyone comes along with an alternative to oil, and it works, then the oil companies will lose business and therefor a lot of money. Naturally they want to keep their empires for as long as they can. You'll probably find that in China oil-businesses don't mean as much as they do in America. And you guys get oil dirt cheap anyway, why pay for something more expensive?

If you readthe full article, the US is in the project... but just to be safe I dont think I will be going back to the US for a couple decades or so.

The US has experimental Tokamak reactors and has for some time. I suspect that the first here is the superconductive rather than electromagnetic containment.

Hows the weather over in Angola?

Lenny 2006-01-30 01:57 PM

I haven't the foggiest. I'm a-guessing it'd be hot and sunny?

Dar_Win 2006-01-30 02:46 PM

Interesting. Would be kind of weird if it worked.

How's the weather in Britain?

Lenny 2006-01-30 02:52 PM

Well, tonight it is a fine, crisp evening. There is little cloud cover and the stars are shining majestically down. In the early hours of the morning there is a good chance of frost, with temperatures falling below freezing for most of the night and into the day tomorrow.

On the whole, the outlook for the night is cool and still.

Tune in on the hour, every hour, for new Podcasts from our news desk.

Goodnight!

It's all a hoax. They actually will burn 1 million barrels of crude oil a day to make a dazzling flame to trick investors :o.
