Age of Ahdin

Hah, since no one has started a new game in a while, and I haven't even had one for about a year, I started a new one with someone who will kill me if I procrastinate.

So I'm proud to annouce the preview version of Age of Ahdin. Ahdin being the language that is spoken in the game. Well, certain people speak it, the rest is in english. So enjoy.

Plus, should I continue it, or just stop.

Also, you need the RM2K3 engine. Find it at www.gamingw.net

Yay!

Glad to see that you're still in the game making Wed. :)

I've forgotten how to get these things a-playing. Even though I can't actually get it playing I've voted yes. Keep it up! Don't fail at it like I did! :p

----------

Hehehehe, you've still got the 'Bladestar' logo there.

Oooh, and Aurvian. Nice. :)

Lenny 2006-01-23 10:11 AM

Whatever happened to Aurv? He kinda disappeared after our project fell to pieces.

Don't know...

But anyway, this project was spawned from our old one. I spent alot of time thinkin bout it and writing stuff down. Although, this preview was rushed because my old computer died and I took the harddrive out and put it in my newer one. Now, I'm just waiting for my new laptop and then I can make games anywhere.

But, yeah. This game features a world story that involves time travel. Think prince of persia: WW except for with original ideas.

One thing I thought of that might not be original is memberships. If you have citizenships you can travel with ships and can bank. If you are part of the pagan group you can gain access to certain areas and minigames.

Lenny 2006-01-24 09:46 AM

As soon as I get it working over here I'll try it out and give some feedback.

The time travel and different class thingy sounds interesting.

Whats wrong? Well, first put in the RTP_RT.exe. its rm2k3 so that might work. if not, the nuts to you.

Lenny 2006-01-25 10:03 AM

I've done thatm but when I try to play it it tells me that:

The File "Red Sys" could not be opened.

I'll try opening it up and seeing if I can change the system graphics it uses.

EDIT: Well, I've solved my file opening problem...now it's a case of making the program read the title header. :p

I think I'll try the .rar instead.

sciencekid 2006-01-25 03:45 PM

on second thought, scratch that it produced an error message, could you go and test the entire folder on a seperate part of the hard drive please? the "HUD" menu isn't working, nor is the "ishah" able to be opened. the main file to run the program is missing too(the exe file). but I had to substitute it with another program file, which is probably why it has a problem.

edit: where exactly is the rpgmaker2003 engine one the site and what is the engine called(file name)?

and you can't open it even in the rpgmaker window w/out the exe file. maybe that's the "engine" he was talking about. i couldn't find it however, could you?

edit: ok i'm an idiot, i found it. here's the missing exe file's address: http://www.gamingw.net/file/util/RM2K3_RPG_RT.exe

edit#2: i tested it and i still have the same problems i did before.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to intervene, BUT I AM NEEDED HERE

Okay, I have no idea why you guys are having problems, but here's some things to check:
  • You might have a different version of the RTP. I remember there being a few versions of it with differently translated filenames (one for each translation of the engine itself), so things will not match up if you're using a different version.
  • YOU DO NOT NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE RPG_RT.exe. Just create a new project (or open an existing one's folder) and copy/paste the RPG_RT.exe from there. (sciencekid, that file is named incorrectly so it wouldn't help you at all)
  • You probably should be using the latest RPGMaker version (I'm using 1.08, which is the latest English version I can find.) If you patch, make sure to follow the usual patch instructions of "make a new project and copy the new RPG_RT from there into all of your existing project files"

If you need any of the files involved (RPG Advocate's RTP, or the program, or even the help file), I'll host them for you. PM me for them.

(Also the beginning credits are just LONG. And typing all this before work means I can't play much past the "magic old guy" intro part)
(Parentheses)

Lenny 2006-01-27 12:17 PM

You know we're all too incompetent to do anything without help. :)

Right, let's try it.

i'm using the latest version, the one you gave me.
hey wed-g which version are you running?

I renamed the exe file and it works just as well as it did before :(

still have the probs. did yours work blue cube?

BlueCube 2006-01-27 01:20 PM

Some of the custom picture files are apparently missing, but other than that it runs fine. All it needs is for every file to be available (i.e. Wed-G's going to have to re-RAR/reupload)

Lenny 2006-01-27 01:26 PM

The .rar file and the .zip file are different. The RAR has all the pictures and whatever in the correct folders whereas the ZIP has no folders in it whatsoever. I think that may be a reason why the ZIP version doesn't work.

EDIT: Right...both sciencekid and I have the following problems:

- HUD menu file is missing. In the files I can find the Stats thing that shows in the top corner, but no menu graphic.
- ishah file. Can't find this in the files either.

If you could put these up for download Wed, then that'd be grand.

EDIT2: Doom-merchant! :p

Now it seems to be characters. Tune in for a next report later tonight for more on this top news story. And onto Sport...

Wed-G 2006-01-28 07:12 PM

Sorry for all the crap...

I'll try to get a new version of it up...

I tried it and it didn't mess up for me. I'm on 1.08.

Maybe I copied the wrong version... I changed alot of filenames and then had to go fix them on my new comp. Maybe I copied the unfixed because the file ishah shouldn't even have been called.

So much for my preview... I'm kinda like Microsoft with the XBox 360.

Lenny 2006-01-29 04:49 AM

HAHA! 360 just got zinged. :p

From what we've all been able to play it looks really good.

For some people the whole thing works, for others it doesn't. Blue can play it fine, and I can't. Nothing works with me. :p
