New Keyboard
I'm getting a new keyboard very soon. I'm not, however, getting a QWERTY keyboard. I'm either going to go with DVORAK or something that's better. My problem: What's better than DVORAK? Reccomendations please.
There is this one site that sells a keyboard with blank keys...I suppose that could make you a better typist over time. With that keyboard you could also probably remap the keys to dvorak if you please, but it may not be the best idea for learners, but who knows.
A dvorak keyboard is a great idea, as I hear people usually double their typing speeds from a qwerty. However, one thing that's usually a problem is that you sorta loose your ability to type on a qwerty keyboard as you learn dvorak. This can be a problem if you tend to use other keyboards other than your own, such as at work or at school, or even if you own a laptop. |
I *think* Windows has a setting for it, so you can bring your DVORAK around with you.
I could never switch keyboards. Can't just ignore the muscle memory that's built up over the years for the QWERTY system.
Who the fuck cares? stick with QWERTY.
QWERTY is such a cool word.
Stick with it, I don't think it's worth learning how to type on DVORAK when you might lose your ability to do QWERTY. Who needs to type that fast anyways? |
Qwerty is the most successful typeset anyway.
I could never relearn to type. I couldn't forget the QWERTY system.
You could try a left-handed one...if it's a left-handed QWERTY one then all you need to do is mirror what you know already.
But then again, the majority of the words you type are typed with your left hand, so if you switched to a left-handed keyboard you'd need to learn how to type well with your right hand... ---------- Why on earth would you want a DVORAK keyboard? It looks very confusing. The only letters from a QWERTY keyboard that don't change are the A and the M: http://fmwriters.com/Visionback/Issue%2016/dvorak2.jpg Then again, I don't know why it is said to be more comfortable and simpler to use. http://www.mwbrooks.com/dvorak/procon.html |

The only info they give is that it will be released in 2006 and will cost less than a "good mobile phone"
heh <$500? |
Yeah I think I saw that one on Collegehumour. That would be SO kickass.
PS: Whats the advantage of using a Dvorak keyboard? |
That keyboard is amazing!! Maybe if we all clubbed together to get one we could buy it, send it to somewhere and link it up to a webcam so we can watch our money in use...a present for WW or Chruser maybe...I'm just rambling...GETCHA GROCERIES!! We got apples, pears, big juicy melons!!...Press Alt + F4 for free porn!! It works! Honest to god!...and that is why cows should be brutally murdered.
A good mobile phone over here is around £120 --> $212. |
We could give it to WW in exchange for him taking off that bullshit post rule.
bullshit, give it to me for finding it.
Dvorak is supposed to be faster than QWERTY. The main concrete advantage, however, is that the fingers move less. The most often used keys on the home row, etc, etc. This is good when you plan to be writing or coding or whatever else for long periods of time daily.
You're all incredibly retarded; Bob, just get the dvorak, you'll probably like it.
Didn't you end yourself?
I ended your mom! HAAAYO!
