XBox Live Setup?
A few questions:
I only ask, because I tried routing the cable, which I was previously using at my apartment just fine, from my parent house modem to the XBox, but it can't resolve the DNS.. I don't know why, because when I switch the computer internet cable back to the computer, the internet comes right back, just fine.. Any ideas or suggestions? |
If you have cable, you can use a router to connect both. If you have DSL, there's no telling; some modems require that they be directly connected to a PC which tells it the number to dial, in which case you need a second net card you'll neet to run the internet connection sharing wizard.

buy a hub
|
Hmm, lets see... Buy a $5 double connection piece, or a HUB? Hmm hard one.. :(
|
hub will be better in the long run when your computer network grows
:edit: hey that level vodka in your sig is pretty good, bought some the other day |
What is this double connection piece? You reallize that a BaseT ethernet network requires a switching device between each node, right? Even if you get a splitter for the propper jack type, it won't help.

Oh, good thing I didn't buy anything then. I'm just unplugging the computer internet and hooking in the XBox Live cable when I want to play online. Works for me.

the setup me and smith have, or had and are going to have again is this:
we have DSL going from the modem they supply to our wireless router, and each our computers has a wireless connection with it, and then two cat 5 cables coming from the wireless router to our xboxs |
Nice, now you better get a friggin' internet connection soon before I kill myself!
|
Yes, halo has been somewhat lonely as of late. My timing just sucks i guess.

At least you've been able to play. And the best vodka in Titus's sig is all the way to the right. Goes down like water.
