SUV's

Do they make you paranoid?
Whenever I'm driving and I see a whole block of suvs, it creeps me out. I swear to god, Austin people love fucking suv's. I see more of them here then anywhere I've been... :(

I drive an SUV, they're easy to drive because you're so high up and you can see everything.

Medieval Bob 2005-04-02 06:47 PM

I was in Austin two weeks ago. We were in a big Mexican F350.

HandOfHeaven 2005-04-02 07:15 PM

Most SUV's are big enough to have their own zip codes.

Sovereign 2005-04-02 09:51 PM

Suv's suck, but they don't make me paranoid. I can drive by them just like any other car. It's those damn semi trucks that I hate.

Adrenachrome 2005-04-02 10:14 PM

I want a Blazer.. The last year they made the wide body two door... Great truck.

Demosthenes 2005-04-02 10:44 PM

Yea, my uncle in Austin owns an Excursion.

JRwakebord 2005-04-03 11:26 AM

I've got an SUV, but its one of the small ones, based on a car chassis. I love it because it's safe and I get good visibility. Hell, mine even gets good gas mileage (21 highway I think).

Lenny 2005-04-03 12:24 PM

What is it with Americans and big vehicles??

21 miles to the gallon on a highway...english cars can get that cruising at 30 mph!!!

There is no need for vehicles like SUV's...unless you're in the army...and need to make sure that people with rocket propelled grenades know exactly where you are...

JRwakebord 2005-04-03 12:37 PM

Sorry, just checked my Owner's manual. 21 mpg is right, but it's for stop and go driving. Highway I get 28mpg, which is pretty reasonable.

Lenny 2005-04-03 12:39 PM

Oh...OK...that's about the same as us for cruising...though we may get over 30mpg on the motorway...

D3V 2005-04-03 12:52 PM

I drive a Jeep with 20's

Lenny 2005-04-03 01:10 PM

A jeep isn't an SUV. A jeep is a jeep...

JRwakebord 2005-04-03 01:11 PM

Eh, technically it does fall into the "Sport Utility" category.

Jamesadin 2005-04-03 03:45 PM

I really don't like SUV's. There needlessly huge, bad on gas and the environment, and it seems everyone has this facination that if they have enough money, why not buy a huge vehicle for a two person family. Its dumb.

-=Rico-GP=- 2005-04-03 08:57 PM

I'm bling blinging.

Sometimes you NEED an SUV for some of the roads you go on in Canada, James.

HandOfHeaven 2005-04-03 09:00 PM

We have a 2003 Dodge Durango that handles well, but only gets about 17 mpg highway. The Subaru Outback we have (don't remember year) gets about 27 mpg, so not bad.

Sovereign 2005-04-03 09:35 PM

My dad's sedan probably gets worse miles per gallon then most suv's -.-

D3V 2005-04-03 09:56 PM

My jeep gets around (seriously) 12 MPG. My dad has 33x12x50's on his truck (33" tires) and 15" Inch american racing wheels, and my tires/wheels are the same size. So that makes my gas go ''''---___ \/ down..

Its true, and that situation doesn't really bother me. Its when people who drive 6 km to work and live in the city it bothers me. Sometimes though, an SUV, or a truck is needed.
