Why isn't this attack considered melee? It's just like zeal, with the exception that it cant miss, and uses a shield instead of a weapon.

Your oppoent can't not block it. You doesn't not requre attack rate for it.

You tell me, is zon's charge bolt attack melee? is hammerin melee? They both have the same conditions as smite attack also both is close combat.

Image you can't block zeal attack.... you v/t would die in 1 hit bro.

So just because its unblockable and it always hits, its not melee. Fucking stupid reason.

And btw, hammers are cast. I dont recall casting a magical shield from the ethereal planes to bash my opponent each time I smite.

That reasoning would make Charged Strike melee also, since it's unblockable and doesn't require an attack roll for the Charged Bolts to be released.

Also, you could claim by following your rules that using a Fireball at Point-Blank range could be melee also, since you're standing toe-to-toe with them.

u dont have to be psychic its spelt wrong... but all you have to do is get ur stats and math down and ur good.. live, eat, sleep diablo pvp :) thats how he does it :)

I think i have mentionned this before, melee means hand to hand combat and the person that tells me smite is not hand to hand, please tell me what hand to hand combat means.

And anything can be a weapon, i think i can injure someone with a rock or a chair so don't tell me a shield is not.

ive done this arguement so many times, cliff notes version:
smite is a melee hit - FACT (apply the definition)
smite is a CHEAP* melee hit - FACT

*cheap - a dirty hit that is unblockable with the exception of zon passive skills and asn's weapon block skill

no, i believe that ppl say smite isnt melee is cuz they just dont like being cheap shoted, its like some one sucker punching your really fast. No one would like to be ambushed (well... most ppl)

Technically it's short ranged attacks, while holding a wepon, right? A shield can be used as a weapon, and cs is also meele. While hammerdin the pally is throwing them and they spin, therefourth, not meele.
