LAN Gaming centers -- do you/would you frequent them?

Just wondering, might start one up here in Idaho.

I was a manager for planet-cyber in Canoga park for almost a year. Hit me up on AIM if u want any tips/ideas. If run well a good lan center can make arround $20,000 a month. At least thats what we were doing @ pc.

I go to a LAN center, Mission Control, atleast once a week. I don't play PC there, but I own some people up on Halo everytime I go. My team pwns.

`Insolence` 2004-06-26 06:26 PM

Nice :D

I think we are going to have 2 xboxs, 1 ps2, 1 gamecube, and 1 projector.

Thanatos 2004-06-26 10:53 PM

At the LAN center I go to there are 19 PCs, 4 Xboxes, 1 GC, 1 regular nintendo(pwn), 2 26" Samsung digital TVs, and 1 128" projector screen. That thing is freaking huge but it doesn't look focused. :(

wtf? 19 pcs? 10 on 9? :haha: sounds like CS.

Thanatos 2004-06-26 11:28 PM

Where do you get 10 on 9 from? Not everybody plays the same game at the same time.

By the way, the 19th PC is the one the owner uses at his desk.

Hrm, I think I am going to do pretty much the EXACT same thing, a private room with a couple X Box's and bean bag chairs for Parties.

1 TV With PS2/gamecube/n64

You pay by time you spend there... www.igames.com forum has some info, I highly suggest you do not sign up though.

Basically it's like a LAN party, google lan party if you do not know what it is.

It's a very good atmosphere and competitive place, I think it'd be great to start one if you're not familiar with it, very good idea.

undeadzombieguy 2004-06-27 02:53 AM

I see, there are 3 major problems tough if I would want to begin something like this,
1: I'm 17.
2: There's no way I could get all the money to buy the things needed.
3: Not enough time.

This could be something to think about once I've graduated from college, but right now it would be virtually impossible.

gsus, does that lan center have a website?

Gsus 2004-06-27 03:38 AM

www.planet-cyber.net the website is pretty ghey and outdated.

Thanatos 2004-06-27 07:30 AM

http://www.missioncontrol-lgc.com is the URL for the LAN center that I go to.

Insolence, yours sounds exactley like mine! Private room for the Xboxes with huge ass bean bag chairs AND a projector in the computer area. I guess great minds think alike.

`Insolence` 2004-06-27 10:59 AM

You OWN one, thanatos?

Thanatos 2004-06-27 04:55 PM

Hah, I wish. Sorry if it sounded that way. :)

NP :D

HandOfHeaven 2004-06-27 09:29 PM

This is a great way to bring people together and get some real competition, and not just the same bunch of friends. Good luck with that! What games do you plan to have going, besides Halo and CS?

`Insolence` 2004-06-27 11:23 PM

Starcraft is my main one.. Diablo 2 also.

Americas Army (because it's free), Quake 3, all sorts of fudge, basically what ever the people demand, I stick to a few games: sc/d2/cs/halo
